Job Summary: The Department of Medical
Education at the Quillen College of Medicine of East Tennessee
State University invites applications for an open-rank, non-tenure
track position in the area of Medical Education. Exceptional
applicants will be considered for a convertible or tenure track
position. We seek candidates with broad training in Biomedical
Sciences, demonstrated potential to be excellent medical educators,
and ability to contribute to teaching in multiple courses within
our new integrated, organ systems-based curriculum. Teaching in one
or more of the following multi-disciplinary areas is of particular
interest: Pharmacology, Histology, Physiology/Anatomy or
Biochemistry/Human Genetics. Preference will be given to those
candidates with documented medical teaching experience in the
disciplines listed above, expertise in interactive learning
pedagogies, knowledge of medical school accreditation standards,
and/or educational scholarship.
This is an excellent opportunity with a competitive starting
salary, 3 to 5 year contract depending upon faculty rank,
state-of-the-art teaching facilities, and the commitment of the
existing faculty to provide strong career mentoring. Our very
collegial environment also extends to clinical departments and
other colleges at ETSU.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Successful
candidates should present evidence of an established record of , or
demonstrate a strong potential for, effective medical teaching in
one or more basic sciences disciplines, as well as a commitment to
work productively with a team of medical educators from other basic
and clinical science disciplines.
Evidence for potential of productive scholarly and creative
activity is also desired.
Ability to contribute to teaching other disciplines is an
asset.
The ability to teach students from all backgrounds.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant biomedical sciences field, and/or MD, DO and/or PharmD plus at least two (2) years of relevant post-graduate experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Biomedical Sciences
teaching experience at the medical or graduate school level.
Experience in innovative educational practices.
Knowledge of undergraduate medical school curricular/accreditation
standards.
Experience in educational scholarship.
Ability to teach effectively in multiple basic sciences
disciplines.
Preference will be given to those candidates with documented
medical teaching experience in the disciplines listed above.
