A.T. Still University's School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) invites applications for a part-time, exempt Assistant Professor OMS2 Clinical Case Director on the Mesa, Arizona campus. This position reports to the Chair, Department of Clinical Science Medicine, and is responsible for development and delivery of case-based educational content to ATSU-SOMA standards across the OMS2 curriculum. This position will work collaboratively with the ATSU-SOMA team to develop, implement, refine, and distribute the clinical cases for the OMS2 curriculum for the 2022-23 academic year. A 0.2 FTE equals approximately 8 hours per week.

Major Job Duties:
  • Serve as case director for the OMS2 curriculum to include: development, updating, and distribution of the weekly cases to the RDMEs, course director, and curriculum coordinator.
  • Obtain real-time feedback from student and faculty on the quality of the clinical cases.
  • Work in collaboration with SOMA leadership to ensure quality and consistency of the weekly cases.
  • Be available to participate in the Curriculum Committee when needed.
  • Attend the RDME Department meetings for questions / feedback.
  • Joining by Zoom CHC site small group sessions on an annual basis to provide evaluation and assessment of case based learning.
  • Provide any training / development for conducting case based learning sessions to new facilitators.
Skills/Requirements:
  • DO or MD, Specialty Board Certification, Medical License.

  • Broad knowledge and experience in medical education in both the predoctoral and postgraduate setting.
  • Curriculum development knowledge and experience with a willingness to adopt the Clinical Presentation model.
  • 3 to 5 years' related experience.
  • Skill requirements are covered under primary care specialty board certification.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, emailing, and public speaking.
  • The successful applicant will have demonstrated success promoting a culturally rich environment that values and appreciates diversity.
  • The applicant should have a common understanding of bias, what it means to be culturally proficient, and demonstrated success at mitigating differences.
  • The applicant should have familiarity with the principles and practice of osteopathic medicine.
