This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track position in the Department of Educational Studies, Leadership and Counseling.

Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct and oversee the Kentucky Center for School Safety grant, and teach a 2/2 course load in the Human Services program.

  •  Teach two online classes each fall and spring semesters in the undergraduate, Human Services program.
  •  Secure hosting for KCSS website (KYCSS.org), maintaining, creating content, and researching relevant resources for the aforementioned website.
  •  Use website analytics to address needs and trends (included in this is the social networking platform updates such as; Facebook and Twitter).
  •  Continually update the KCSS Emergency Management Resource Guide which includes the flipchart "Quick Response Protocols" and the Apps on Apple Store and Google Play.
  • Maintain and manage KCSS grant budget
  • Ensure promotion of KCSS information via conventional means (e.g., developing and maintaining relationships with school administrators and superintendents) and technological means (e.g. overseeing website and app development).
  •  Provide other deliverables as related to the grant requirements.
  •  Compile Quarterly Report and participate in quarterly program meetings with KDE, KCSS/KSBA and other regional Safety Consultants.
  •  Compile Monthly Financial Report for Eastern KY Office.
  • Compile and design Resource Center's pages for the annual report.
  •  Maintain an advising caseload.
  •  Active involvement in departmental and college committees

Minimum Education Requirements:
  • Masters in School Counseling or closely related field

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:
  • Experience as a school counselor or school teacher with human service experience
  •  Administrative experience in planning and conducting professional development activities to large audiences.
  • Experience in complex issue analysis and creative problem solving along with the ability to provide strategic options and recommendations.
  •  Experience in maintaining and managing website and application software.
  •  Ability to express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
  •  Commitment to, experience with, and ability to work effectively with a broad spectrum of individuals from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
  •  Willingness to be trained in the National Incident Management System (Incident Command Systems certificates for ICS 100 and 200. Online FEMA courses)

Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications:
  • Experience in motivating individuals to dedicate time and effort to tasks which may be a minor percentage of their responsibilities but are critical to school function (e.g. response planning and training).
  •  Experience working with special populations including individuals with disabilities (including deaf/hard of hearing or blind), cultural minorities, English language learners, migrant populations, etc.
