Job Description

Serve as a technical expert and administrative IT support helping to create a strong information technology foundation for the President, Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer, and Executive VP and Provost senior management areas. Install, configure, update and maintain servers utilized by offices BAMS supports. Assist the assistant director of computing and server technologies with establishing management standards and practices for computing support, including web development and systems maintenance. Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and upgrades desktops, servers, laptops, printers, mobile devices and projection computer hardware and software, for supported offices. Assist with designing automated computer installation processes to reduce install times. Applies anti-virus, operating system and 3rd party updates to prevent security violations. Assists with technology aspects of meeting setup and support. Provides polite, professional, courteous customer service to users. Responds to user needs via phone calls, tickets, and emails. Deals with confidential and sensitive information in appropriate manner and in accordance with university policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field or related equivalent experience
• Experience with Windows and Mac operating systems
• Knowledge of mobile computing devices such as iPhone and Android
• Experience analyzing problems and designing/planning effective solutions
• Knowledge of relational database design
• Experience with web programming languages such as ASP.net and PHP
• Knowledge and understanding of business processes such as finance, accounting, and management
• Quick learner and willing to research and discover new technology features
• Demonstrated ability to interface with end users over the telephone, via email or in person to effectively communicate problem status and resolutions
• Good interpersonal, customer support, verbal and technical writing skills tailored to a level appropriate for the intended audience
• Ability to quickly solve problems in high-pressure situations
• A self-starter with ability to manage multiple, simultaneous tasks and projects
• Ability to operate independently and without supervision and with assigned teams to accomplish organizational goals and objectives
• Willingness and ability to document knowledge

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience installing, operating and troubleshooting desktop and laptop computer hardware.
• Experience installing, operating, and troubleshooting servers
• Experience with hardware virtualization (Microsoft Hyper-V)
• Experience with system administration tools such as BigFix, Microsoft SCCM, Kaseya, JAMF, etc.
• Experience with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow
• Experience working with computers and or servers in an Active Directory based environment
• Experience analyzing server or computer log files
• Experience in an IT support or help desk environment or related role
• Understanding of Amazon Web Services technologies
• Knowledge of security software and security issues
• Advanced knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot in a logical and systematic manner, problems related to desktop operating systems and hardware, applications, and peripherals
