The Indiana University Kokomo Library invites applications for the position of Assistant Librarian, Library Collections Coordinator. The IU Kokomo Library seeks a collaborative and innovative librarian to provide strategic leadership for the Library’s technical services and electronic resources.

This tenure-track position is responsible for planning, managing, and evaluating the Library’s print and electronic resources, including budgeting, acquisitions, processing, discovery, maintenance, and assessment. Departmental liaison activities include teaching, learning and research support for assigned areas. This position will be open until filled.

Basic Qualifications

  • MLS/MIS/MLIS or equivalent advanced degree from an ALA-accredited institution (or international equivalent) 
  • Knowledge of library-specific technologies, such as integrated library systems and electronic resource management systems
  • Knowledge of the MARC record format and Library of Congress subject headings
  • Commitment to professional development and service to meet the requirements for tenure and promotion
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing equity and inclusion with an understanding of the library needs of a diverse community
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated presentation and instruction skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively, independently, and collaboratively
  • Effective problem solving, analytical and organizational skills
  • Collegial attitude and enthusiasm for innovation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-MLS library technical or digital services work experience
  • Experience working with integrated library system functions for technical services
  • Experience working in acquisitions and/or cataloging
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and evaluate library collections and services
  • Experience managing library collection budgets
  • Experience assessing the digital user experience, with particular emphasis on accessibility
  • Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in library and information services
  • Knowledge of government publications or experience working with a federal and/or state government document depository
  • Experience working with open educational resources in an academic library
  • Understanding of and experience teaching information literacy competencies
  • Experience providing reference services
  • Supervisory experience
  • An additional graduate degree, preferably in business, education, sciences, nursing, or health sciences

Major Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and provide leadership for the discovery, acquisition, processing, access, and maintenance of print and electronic resources
  • Work with the Dean to prepare, monitor, and evaluate acquisitions budgets
  • Collect, maintain, and share relevant statistics
  • Lead ongoing assessment of the Library's print and electronic collections Serve as the Federal Depository Library Coordinator
  • Serve as the liaison to technical and electronic resources services departments on other IU campuses
  • Serve as subject liaison to support teaching, learning, and research in assigned areas
  • Serve as the campus library liaison for the institutional repository and the Open Educational Resources (OER) initiative.
