FAES | Agriculture and Natural Resources


Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member’s tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice.  These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.


Additional Information:

Plan, teach, and evaluate educational programs including development of relevant curricula; conduct applied research; make creative and scholarly contributions, and; contribute in service to the profession and university in the field of farm management.


Employ innovative educational methods and technology to expand delivery of educational programs and resources to landowners, Extension professionals, organizations, and the general public.


Secure extramural funding through grants, contracts, industry supported partnerships, user fees, and cost recovery to support mission critical programming.


Document and communicate program impact.


Conduct applied research; translate and integrate applied research into curriculum and educational programs; public in clientele media outlets; meet faculty expectations of creative and scholarly work.  Collaborate with academic department faculty on research agendas.


Serve as an education advisor and liaison for the Ohio State University Extension and the University to appropriate public issue and program organizations.  Represent OSU Extension and the University with federal, state and local agencies and educational institutions at the regional level.


Pursue developmental opportunities aligned with individual professional development goals and selected subject matter areas.


Be an effective team player.  Work collaboratively with educators in all program areas (4-H Youth Development, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Community Development, and Family and Consumer Sciences), where interdisciplinary efforts are needed to meet broad issues or carry out major programming efforts.


Coordinate Extension, research, and service activities at the state level as a farm management team leader and member of the Farm Financial Management and Policy Institute. 


Ensure a diversity among potential clientele and learners and equal access to programs and facilities without regard to age, race, creed, color, handicap, sex, sexual orientation, developmental disability, national origin, marital status, arrest or non-program related conviction record.


Education: Master’s degree required.


PhD desired with experience in farm management:  financial management and analysis, business planning and management, marketing, land economics, or agricultural policy or work experience.


This is a statewide position with location to be determined.


Salary Competitive and commensurate with education and experience.
