The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School is seeking a full-time pediatric psychologist to join a vibrant, multi-faceted team at Dell Children's Medical Center (DCMC) providing clinical services to children and adolescent survivors of pediatric cancer and other blood disorders. We seek candidates committed to providing exemplary care and treatment that restores hope and helps patients and families live healthier, fuller lives. Additional opportunities include provision of clinical services to patients undergoing active treatment for blood disorders and childhood cancer, collaboration with other DCMC specialty clinics, clinical supervision of practicum students, interns, and/or fellows, research and program development.

Essential Functions

Primary responsibilities include providing inpatient and outpatient behavioral health consultation-liaison services, brief and longer-term psychological intervention, and collaboration with medical and psychosocial teams within the Children's Blood and Cancer Center. Development and implementation of psychosocial programming for the Cancer Survivorship Clinic programs will also be a focus of this position. Additional responsibilities included participation in multidisciplinary rounds, psychosocial rounds and other departmental programs and initiatives.

This pediatric psychologist will work within an integrated practice model and routinely collaborate with physicians, pediatric psychiatrists and psychiatric residents, medical students, other psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, child life specialists, nurses, and administrative staff.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Eligible for appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Texas Dell Medical School
  • Doctoral degree from an APA or CPA accredited program in Clinical, Counseling or School Psychology
  • Completion of an APA or CPA accredited internship in psychology
  • Completion of a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical child and adolescent or pediatric psychology
  • Unrestricted license to practice psychology in the State of Texas or ability to obtain prior to appointment
  • Eligibility and commitment to pursue board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior hematologyoncology experience strongly preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
