Midwestern State University invites applications for the
position of Assistant Professor of Special
Education The successful candidate in this 9-month tenure
track position will teach graduate and undergraduate level courses
in special education and contribute actively and effectively to
student growth, service, and scholarship. Candidates are expected
to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse
student body. The successful candidate will begin Fall
2022.
Midwestern State University, a Texas public university with nearly
5,900 students, is located in Wichita Falls (population 103,000),
120 miles northwest of Dallas near the Oklahoma border. MSU is one
of 29 members of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges
(COPLAC) and a member of the Texas Tech System. The West College of
Education was successfully reaccredited by TEA in 2018 and CAEP in
2021. The MSU Texas Clinical Mental Health Program earned CACREP
accreditation in 2020. The West College of Education is located in
Bridwell Hall, a facility remodeled in 2019. The college offers the
Bachelor of Science in Education degree with majors in Early
Childhood (EC-3, EC-6, Early Care), Grades 4-8, Sport and Leisure
Studies, Physical Education, Special Education, Substance Abuse
Counseling, and Secondary Education; and the Bachelor of Applied
Arts and Sciences with multiple concentrations. Students may earn a
Master of Education degree with majors in Sports Administration,
Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or Educational
Leadership or a Master of Art degree in Counseling or Human
Resource Development. In addition, the college now offers a doctor
of education degree in educational leadership. The West College of
Education currently has 642 undergraduate students, 336 graduate
students, and 40 full-time faculty and staff. Additional

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned doctorate in
Special Education or closely related field from a regionally
accredited institution (ABD will be considered), Diagnostician
Certification, and three years of experience as a
diagnostician.
Preferred qualifications: The preferred candidate will have an established special education research agenda and experience teaching graduate level courses and distance education.
