Job Description
The Department of Microbiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Heersink School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track (or non-tenure earning track) teaching faculty position. Strong candidates will have scientific training in the areas of microbiology or immunology, or both, with demonstrated excellence in teaching. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to apply innovative approaches to teaching basic science and applied (research and clinical) concepts in the fields of immunology and microbiology at a variety of academic levels including undergraduate, graduate, and professional training programs.

Strong candidates will have demonstrated excellence in education at the undergraduate level, documentation of the use of innovative approaches to education, and involvement in educational organizations.
Additionally, for applicants with interest in a tenure earning (TE) position, strong candidates will have demonstrated engagement in scholarly activities in education (i.e., publications, grants, and research projects focused on education).
