Job Description:

 As a key member of the executive management team, the Associate Provost for Research, Innovation, and Strategic Initiatives oversees one or more College functions to fulfill comprehensive strategic goals and contributes to overall College strategic objectives. The Associate Provost plans and implements a range of successful programs and oversees staff, budget, operations, and facilities.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Provost, the Associate Provost for Research, Innovation, and Strategic Initiatives will lead or manage one or more College administrative functions and develop, implement, and assesses programs that meet the College’s strategic goals. The Associate Provost is responsible for staff supervision, budget, operations, and facilities within assigned areas.

The Associate Provost for Research, Innovation, and Strategic Initiatives provides leadership for the implementation of cross-college strategic initiatives and oversight of the following administrative offices: Office of Academic Administration; Office of Sponsored Projects and Research, and Office of Research, Compliance and Outreach. In this newly reconfigured position, the Associate Provost for Research, Innovation, and Strategic Initiatives will be responsible for managing to completion several strategic priorities in the academic affairs portfolio including, but not limited to, the expansion of the College’s external research funding, implementation of an activity-based budget, and the strategic planning process itself. The Associate Provost for Research, Innovation, and Strategic Initiatives will work collaboratively as a member of the senior leadership team. Specifically, they will collaborate with the Associate Provost for Teaching and Learning, Associate Provost for Assessment, Accreditation, and Institutional Effectiveness, and the new Assistant Vice President for Digital Learning.

NOTES:

Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work on-site in the office. All CUNY employees must reside within a commutable distance to the tri-state area.

 Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

 Compensation and Benefits:                                               
Salary commensurate with education and experience.[range $150K-$175K]

Qualifications:

This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.

The successful candidate should possess a Master's degree or Doctorate (preferred) from an accredited college/university and must have a significant record of teaching, scholarship and service commensurate with a possible appointment as a tenured faculty member in one of the academic departments. Demonstrated knowledge of institutional finance and budgeting, change management, and experience as a PI on grant-funded research projects are highly desirable.

The Associate Provost should have administrative leadership experience in an academic organization, with a focus on strategic initiatives and/or research.
