HR Communications is the central marketing and communications office for University Human Resources. We provide strategic communications planning and comprehensive services including consultation, creative marketing, editorial, graphic design, and multimedia development. You will join a team of award-winning communications and marketing pros, leading our daily operations and work assignments and developing short- and long-term strategies with the Senior Director for Communications. You also must bring demonstrated experience with executive communications and issues management in the public sphere, and the ability to write compelling speeches, advise executives on sensitive issues and discern important challenges on the horizon.

Major Responsibilities:

You will create work plans, set priorities, and manage the HR Communications team including mentoring and professional development and directing the delivery of multiple communications plans to deadline and budget.

    Oversee the implementation of communication plans for all University HR departments. 

    Work with communication specialists to develop long-range strategies to help departments achieve multiple strategic goals.

    Report on impact to strategic priorities.

    Work with UHR web developer to manage development projects for departments.

    Work with department staff to balance workload, prioritize efforts and seek professional development opportunities.

    Communicate and strategize with staff about DEI efforts and promote discussion, participation, and skill development.

You will provide strategic communications counsel to leadership, and design complex communication plans and strategies that directly support UHR priorities.

    Set communications strategy and support important university and UHR programs.

    Provide communications counsel to senior directors, associate vice presidents and other leaders on areas including labor relations, health and well-being, policy communication, organizational development and change management.

    Develop plans, write and edit content, and provide recommendations for major UHR or university-wide projects, including regulatory, change management or other high-visibility or sensitive projects.

    Oversee communications through the UHR website to maximize effectiveness and adherence with brand and style guidelines.

    Support diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.

    Serve on multiple campus committees including emergency response teams.

    Seek and analyze data to improve our communications.

Reporting Relationships:

    You will report to the Senior Director of Communications for University Human Resources. You will lead a team of 11 staff members including marketing specialists, communications specialists, multimedia designers, marketing project coordinators and a developer.

Required Qualifications:

    A bachelor's degree and 8 years minimum relevant professional experience.

    Experience leading and supervising a professional team.

    Demonstrated expertise at writing for public relations and marketing, with emphasis on executive communications or issues management.

    Ability to carefully consider stakeholder groups and diverse perspectives to shape communication planning and strategy.

    Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, including through marketing and communications.
