Reporting to the Senior Administrator for University Enterprises and Director of Athletics the Special Assistant to the Director of Athletics is responsible for leading fundraising efforts for UNC Asheville Athletics. This position also has a dotted line to the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement. With a primary focus on leading Athletics comprehensive campaign and major gifts the employee will be expected to develop the strategy, implementation, and evaluation of long and short term plans to secure major gifts from alumni, friends, corporations, foundations, and other entities in support of UNC Asheville Athletics. 

With an emphasis on gifts of $25,000 and above the Special Assistant will work in support of athletics and the university's strategic plan as set by the Director of Athletics and Vice Chancellor for University Advancement. The Special Assistant will work closely with the other Athletic and University Advancement employees to help ensure a coordinated effort as part of the university's comprehensive campaign. The person is responsible for making the ask and will have established annual fundraising goals/metrics. The employee will serve as a member of the Director of Athletics Senior Team and serve as a primary liaison to the Advancement division. 

The primary focus will be to engage constituent members and prospects via face-to-face meetings, group settings, and events with responsibility for making the ask related to fundraising goals. This position works closely with athletic advancement staff, IMG employees, ticket office and coaches to create opportunities to engage donors. 

The Special Assistant will also be responsible for supervising assigned sport programs as assigned by the Director of Athletics. As a sport supervisor, the employee will work with coaches and staff on goal setting, budgeting, and evaluation of the assigned program. The employee will be expected to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide variety of constituents. This position requires a high energy level, unquestioned integrity and fiscal accountability, and the ability to plan and achieve short- and long-range fundraising goals.

The Assistant AD for Advancement will be an ambassador for the University and its mission. The Special Assistant may also work on other special projects as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
