Position Summary:
Job SummaryThe Assistant Registrar reports directly to the Registrar and assists with the running of the Registrar's Office. The position focuses primarily on assessing credit from non-university sources, including reporting and analysis of related data and processes. Assists with annual course schedule setup and registration functions. Provides support in the daily operations of the Registrar's Office.Specific Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate information on student records in the university's integrated administrative software system and run routine reports as requested.
  • In keeping with university policy and in consultation with faculty as needed, provide timely assessment and assignment of all non-institutional credit, including but not limited to Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), CLEP, internships, externships, math, and language placement, dual enrollment, etc. to ensure effective advising and registration.
  • Assist students seeking international credits, including those participating in the University's Global Opportunities (GO) programs and other study abroad programs as well as international students seeking credit for prior work.
  • Serve as the point of contact for students, faculty and staff regarding transfer credit and placement policies.
  • Collaborate with the Center for Academic Success in the development of strategies of support for students receiving non-institutional credit, including registration support, reporting and data analysis related to retention and student success.
  • Assist with creation of the annual course schedule.
  • Assist with all registration and drop/add cycles and related student services.
  • Assist with policy setting and long-range planning by staying up to date on best practices regarding transfer and non-institutional credit as recommended by AACRAO, ACE, and other professional organizations.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable source regarding FERPA policies and other applicable regulations.
  • Provide regular office support services and contribute to the overall success of the Office of the Registrar and the University by performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:
    Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesExperience using Microsoft Office. Work collaboratively with department heads, the Curriculum Committee, and other university administrative offices, as well as independently. Communicate well with students, parents, faculty, and staff. Ability to understand and explain complex credit policies and academic procedures. Learn new software as necessary. Ability to handle frequent interruptions while meeting deadlines.EducationBachelor’s degree and equivalent work experience in a related area.ExperienceThree years of experience in higher education required. Familiarity with student information software required (Colleague preferred). Experience in the Registrar’s Office preferred.
    Physical DemandPosition requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. Working conditions are indoor.
