Concordia University Chicago (CUC), a comprehensive Christian liberal arts university, invites applications for the position of Vice President for Enrollment Management. This position reports directly to the University President and is located in River Forest, IL.

The Vice President for Enrollment Management (VPEM) is responsible for developing and implementing an overall enrollment strategy for all areas of the University (traditional undergraduate, online undergraduate, and graduate) that is in alignment with CUC's mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. The VPEM will work collaboratively with administrative, staff, and faculty leaders, and provide direct oversight to the following offices: Undergraduate Admission, Adult and Graduate Admissions, and Financial Aid. Reporting to the President, the VPEM will serve as a member of the President's Executive Council. The VPEM must have a profound commitment to the Christian liberal arts and the mission of CUC.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Reflects, articulates, and promotes the mission, vision, and values of Concordia University Chicago
  • Works collaboratively with campus leaders to formulate and execute a sustainable strategic enrollment plan that:
    • Grows traditional new student (first-year and transfer) undergraduate enrollment and net revenue, moving towards improved student preparedness and institutional fit
    • Increases enrollment of members of Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod (LCMS) congregations, especially those pursuing careers in church work
    • Results in sustained increases in post-traditional enrollment and net revenue
  • Maintains knowledge about and utilizes best practices in all aspects of enrollment management (admissions and financial aid)
  • Partners with the University marketing department in the development of marketing and communication strategies that build the university's brand to support the achievement of enrollment goals
  • Provides oversight to the undergraduate and graduate admission offices in the development of processes and techniques that lead to the achievement of university enrollment goals
  • Provides oversight to the financial aid office in the creation and implementation of a comprehensive price and discount strategy
  • Works collaboratively with the Vice President for Student Success in the development of retention initiatives and monitoring success
  • Works collaboratively with the Senior Vice President of Advancement and Director of Ministry Strategies to ensure that Foundation, alumni relations, and church relations activities support the achievement of enrollment goals
  • Partners with members of the Athletics Department to ensure an efficient and effective recruitment process for student-athletes
  • Works collaboratively with the Music Department to ensure an efficient and effective recruitment process for musicians, both majors and ensemble participants
  • Works collaboratively with the Provost to inform program development efforts as well as mobilize the faculty effectively to assist in the recruitment process
  • Evaluates and implements partnerships with external organizations, vendors, and service providers that will contribute to institutional enrollment growth
  • Provides leadership, mentorship, and accountability for all employees in the enrollment division
  • Establishes measurable goals and objectives for all areas of responsibility and ensure that those goals are achieved
  • Continually assesses and analyzes the effectiveness of all aspects of the enrollment operation and make appropriate changes
  • Serves as a liaison to internal and external constituencies as appropriate, including the Board of Regents, prospective students and parents, alumni, etc.
  • Provides oversight to all division budgets
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the president
  • Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS).

Skill Sets:

  • Strong commitment to Biblical Christianity with a demonstrated track record of involvement in a local church; support of the doctrine and policies of the LCMS
  • The ability to make high-quality, data-informed, evidence-based decisions
  • Innovative and proactive in identifying new recruitment ideas, marketing strategies, financial aid strategies, and other institutional moves (e.g., new academic programs) that will drive the achievement of enrollment goals
  • Broad knowledge of enrollment strategies, key performance indicators, and other critical factors affecting enrollment of traditional and post-traditional students
  • Outstanding leadership, organizational, communication, and relational skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively and collegially in an academic community, including the ability to mobilize key campus partners.
  • Strong administrative skills, including related computer and technology skills
  • Superior verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Minimum Experience Required:

  • 5-7 years of enrollment leadership experience in a higher education setting
  • Membership in an LCMS congregation strongly preferred

Education Requirements:

Master's degree in a relevant field preferred
