· Providing academic counseling/coaching/assessment and
intervention related to test-preparation for course exams,
licensure exams, and high stakes testing as well as the development
of effective learning skills, study strategies, creation of
personal study materials, note-taking, time management, and other
factors that impact academic preparation and performance. ·
Development of individualized plans/strategies and delivery of
individualized academic coaching/counseling for more effective
learning performance and to promote successful progress of
individual students in the medical education curriculum. ·
Collaborating with faculty, staff, and administration to offer
supplementary academic services to complement coursework. ·
Designing, conducting, and evaluating effective small and large
group learning sessions to enhance student learning approaches,
study skills and that promote academic success. · Collaborating
with and supporting faculty and administration in developing
effective remediation strategies and policies and implementing
support for remediating learners. · Providing training and
supervision for student peer tutors and coaches in best practices
and theories of learning strategies in academic programs such as
Medical Student Peer Tutoring and the Clinical Foundation Seminar.
· Work with faculty, staff, administration, and team members in
organizing USMLE Step 1 preparation plans and workshops.
· Counseling with learners who have disabilities or require test
accommodations and facilitating students’ introduction/referral
to ECU Disability Support Services
and NBME Testing Accommodation Services. · Participating
in program development and development of assessment instruments. ·
Maintaining files for each student who receives services. · Compile
and analyze statistics through a data management system to evaluate
and document the academic support services and learning support
strategies that contribute to student success in medical education.
