Are you a student-centered librarian passionate about excellent public service, library instruction, and student engagement? The College of Saint Rose announces the search for a 12-month, tenure-track Access Services and Instruction Librarian. Reporting to the Director of Library Services, this position oversees all library circulation operations at the Neil Hellman Library, including course reserves, and helps improve students' information literacy skills through bibliographic instruction sessions and online instructional/research aids. The Access Services and Instruction librarian will work with colleagues as part of the research services team, coordinate student outreach initiatives, and collaborate on ways to infuse principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion into library services, policies, and programs. Faculty responsibilities include advising students, attending internal and external events, serving on Library and College Committees, and engaging in professional development.

Situated in the center of campus, the Neil Hellman Library provides over 160,000 print volumes, 121,000 e-books, over 100 databases, and four floors of student accessible space; group work, private study, and silent study modes are all supported. The Neil Hellman Library has 60 computers (both Mac and PC) distributed throughout the building as well as 25 laptops available to circulate within the building. The Neil Hellman Library has the equivalent of 12 FTE staff (including 4 librarians), while the Patricia Standish Curriculum Library has the equivalent of 2.5 FTE.

The College of Saint Rose seeks an Access Services and Instruction Librarian who is dedicated to excellence in library services, instruction, and programming in order to promote student success. The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  1. An earned master's degree from an ALA-accredited library/information sciences program.
  2. Experience working in a library required. Experience working in an academic library strongly preferred.
  3. Familiarity with best practices, issues, and trends for access services (e.g. user privacy rights, copyright, fair use) and information literacy (e.g. the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy).
  4. Proficiency with in person and online instruction, including the design of instructional materials/activities and presentation skills.
  5. Ability to support the research and information needs of students and faculty in an academic setting.
  6. A commitment to excellent public service, user education, and student success.
  7. Experience in a supervisory capacity.
  8. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  9. Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to work creatively and effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  10. Familiarity with principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion as they relate to library services, policies, and programs.
  11. Demonstrated experience working with a diverse population.
  12. Experience working with an integrated library system (i.e. Voyager) is preferred.
  13. Ability to work some evenings and weekends on an as needed basis.
