Job Description

The Department of Medicine, Division of Immunology & Rheumatology within the School of Medicine is pleased to announce the opening a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant position to support the growing needs of the division.

This Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will act as a physician extender for the collaborating physicians in the Rheumatology division. The primary role of this individual will provide excellent patient care in the Rheumatology outpatient clinic, 9 half-day clinics per week. This position will remain flexible to schedule changes and transitions of duties with short notice.

Duties Include:

*Functioning independently or in conjunction with attending physicians and fellows in the outpatient clinic setting; facilitating patient care including documentation, placing orders, evaluating patient symptoms, and coordinating with other services.
* Perform physical examinations and order diagnostic tests. Collect and document patient history information through verbal and written sources.
*Coordinate the planning, developing, facilitating, and evaluation of interdisciplinary patient care towards achievement of identified outcomes of individual patients.
* Participate in patient and family education to include planning and directing care when applicable.
* Review patient treatment plans and order tests, diagnostic laboratory and related services. Order therapies, medications, blood products, IV solutions, ventilator changes, and other life support services within established protocols or as directed by a licensed physician.
* Visit and monitor progress of patient as a liaison for physician and counsel patients regarding mental and physical health using established procedures as outlined in the established protocol or as approved by a licensed physician.
*Responsible for complete, efficient, and comprehensive documentation of all patient encounters in a timely manner.

Salary

Salary Range: Salary commensurate with experience .

Grade: PAT-011

University Title: PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT -or- NURSE PRACTITIONER

Shift

Full-time; 40 hours per week; shifts to be determined.

Minimum Qualifications

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT:

Graduation from an AMA accredited physician assistant program, including national certification, as a physician assistant by the NCCPA is preferred.

Possession of a current Missouri license to practice as a licensed Physician Assistant is required.

NURSE PRACTITIONER:

Preparation as a nurse practitioner in either a Master's program or a certificate program.

Licensure as a registered professional nurse in the State of Missouri and must be granted a “Document of Recognition” from the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
