Lecturer

Position Summary

A Lecturer in the English Department is a renewable 9-month appointment in the Department of English.      Responsibilities include teaching four courses per semester and fulfilling other program responsibilities as needed.    

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Master’s Degree or higher in Composition and Rhetoric, English, or related field required. 
•  Experience teaching Composition preferred. 
• Experience working with 1st generation college students preferred. 
• A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching Composition 

Major Responsibilities

• Teaches 12 credits of Composition 100, 150, 250, 252, 254 or a combination of these each semester. 
• Provides students with course materials and instruction both in-person and via Canvas, the college’s MLS. 
• Hold regular office hours.  
• Engage authentically with students, the department, and colleagues.  
• Reads student writing and provides substantive, qualitative feedback to students. 
• Takes responsibility for all grading of student work and submitting grades on Webopus at the end of each semester. 
• Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities 
• Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508. 
• Produces and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards. 
• Perform other duties as assigned

Compensation

The salary is $43,500, plus a comprehensive benefits package .
