About the Opportunity

Summary and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Undergraduate Admissions Recruitment, the Associate Director of Admission for Training and New Initiatives will collaborate with admissions leadership and campus partners to develop and implement new programs designed to enhance the global outreach and recruitment/yield strategy for prospective first year students. Proposals should include: analyzing institutional data; benchmarking activities against peer and aspirant institutions; and interacting with cross-university departments to support the work of admissions.

The incumbent will chair the Training and Professional development committee. They will collaborate with Admission leadership, managers, and campus partners to lead the training and professional development activities for the unit, including unit wide trainings and weekly staff meetings. The incumbent will implement standard search practices; document best practices for hiring, onboarding, and off-boarding; and partner with managers to onboard and off-board staff as needed.

The Associate Director will manage the communications and programming for Northeastern Legacy applicants and serve as the primary liaison between the Office of Alumni Relations. They will develop and implement comprehensive programs to serve the families of the Northeastern alumni community and applicants with institutional legacy throughout the admissions and enrollment process. As a territory manager, traditional responsibilities include: travel to attract and subsequently enroll freshman; develop and implement targeted programming efforts and activities; manage a territory throughout the admission cycle; evaluate freshman and transfer applicants for admission; counsel and advise students and families regarding the admission process; conduct interviews and presentations; and establish, develop and maintain relationships with guidance counselors and transfer advisors while marketing the University effectively.

This position includes the direct supervision of four Assistant Directors of Admission. The incumbent will be engaged in long-term planning and evaluation, as well as resource assessment and management. The Associate Director serves on the office management team and assists in developing and implementing office policies and procedures. The position serves on campus-wide committees and represents the University to prospective students, families and secondary school counselors. The position also actively contributes to the office welfare by working collaboratively with managers in unit to achieve institutional enrollment goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in college admission. Masters preferred
  • Strong supervisory, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • A thorough understanding of the new student recruitment process
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Demonstrated understanding of admissions technical systems.
  • Must be highly organized and detail oriented, programming experience preferred Knowledge of higher education issues related to recruitment, admission and enrollment of students.
