July 1- August 4, if participating in residential life, additional dates may be required. Estimated 20 hours per week, variable afternoon/evening shifts with one Saturday commitment during the 5 weeks.

Position Purpose

The Athletic Training Department is seeking an energetic and passionate clinical/child advocate to provide athletic training care and coverage for the five week Exeter Summer experience. This position will assist the ATC for Exeter Summer in providing care for children and youth who are engaging in a variety of activities. The student AT will assist in supervision of all injuries related to participants and are responsible for the day-to-day medical needs of the participants including but not limited to: first aid response, emergency response, musculoskeletal injury evaluations, injury management, and communication to parents/guardians. Temporary housing within a dormitory maybe available in exchange for additional pay and residential responsibilities that include one night of duty.

Key Accountabilities
  • Assist in the enforcement of departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Provide education and serve as a resource for students on injury/illness prevention and wellness.
  • Responsible for the evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of all orthopedic injuries across campus.
  • Apply indicated injury risk reduction methods to students.
  • Provides immediate emergency care during times of physical activity.
  • Provide respectful communication, within limits of confidentiality, on student health matters between coaches, parents and health care providers.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of Athletic Training Center activities and pertinent medical data.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Health Services
Position Requirements

Education
  • Must be enrolled in a CAATE approved athletic training program
Experience
  • Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Thorough knowledge of professional athletic training principles, methods and procedures; anatomy and physiology applicable to assigned duties; and medical supplies and equipment used in athletic training practice.
  • Ability to analyze emergency situations accurately and take prompt action.
  • Working knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to certified athletic training.
  • Ability to use computer based software including email, computerized maintenance management system, electronic medical record programs, and smart phone/mobile devices, and MS Office.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain collegial relationships.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills and the ability to follow directions.
  • Respect for diversity of identities and experiences, an orientation toward equity and inclusion, and cultural competency in all aspects of Academy life.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and restraint at all times, including stressful situations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as a strong customer focus.
