Project Portfolio Management Office (PPMO) is responsible for the overall direction and management of project and program portfolios, optimization of investments and resources on projects, informing the strategic direction for campus-wide implementation, coordination, business analysis, systems analysis, ROI reporting, as well as delivery of agreed small, medium, and exceptionally large and complex IT projects.

 

We are seeking a Director of PPMO to join the University’s IT Service team and manage the portfolio of major programs consisting of 150+ IT projects and enterprise-wide programs each with its own project manager, timeline, and executive stakeholder body. This role is responsible for directing and defining the PPMO office, managing initiatives through all project phases while having holistic visibility across larger program initiatives to ensure cross team dependencies are accounted for, and to ensure consistency across the portfolio of work. The Director will assist with business transformation strategy, roadmap planning, governance and the budget process.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Overall strategic direction of Projects and Programs with University-wide and system-wide impact.

• Establish objectives and work plans for enterprise-scale initiatives, and delegate assignments to subordinate project managers

• Work with University executives, CFO, CIO, IT Services Senior Management Team, and governance bodies to manage, analyze and constantly improve the state of the programs.

• Apply advanced technical project management concepts and expertise with a full understanding of project management practices and IT policies and procedures to manage complex projects.

• Lead and mentor a team of technical project managers.

• Drive robust workload and resource management processes across the organization, resulting in predictable, measurable services

• Lead the efforts for defining and exposing project-related data using advanced visualization tools and dashboards.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

• 2-5 years of experience managing an information technology organization.

• Mastery of best practices in project management discipline required. Knowledge of project management principles, theories, and concepts. Demonstrated experience with managing complex, large, and long-term IT projects.

• Thorough knowledge of subject area sufficient for strategic planning, technology assessment and direction.

• Is able to establish priorities, goals / objectives and timelines.

• Requires strong conceptual and planning skills. Strategic planning capability, with skill in conceptualizing IT work and proposals for business understanding.

• Demonstrates ability to delegate and oversee assignments to ensure successful and timely completion as well as to obtain the cooperation of others within and outside the unit. Works in a collaborative manner to achieve results.
