Job Details

The Department of Media Studies in Quinnipiac University’s School of Communications seeks a full-time tenure-track assistant professor specializing in entertainment talent management, starting in August 2023. The position will contribute to the University’s new Talent Management degree program.

Candidates must be able to teach our introductory undergraduate course, Media Industries and Trends, and in two or more of the following areas: media trend forecasting, media innovators, celebrity culture, communications law and policy, diversity in media, global communication, media research methods, media users and audiences, popular music, sports media, media analytics and/or media management, or other areas that complement our current offerings. Our department highly values innovative teaching and diverse perspectives.

We balance hands-on skills training with instruction in the liberal arts to prepare students for exciting and rewarding careers in advertising and integrated communications; communications/media studies; film, television and media arts; graphic and interactive design; journalism; and public relations. Responsibilities:

  • Teach six classes per academic year with opportunities to teach in the summer
  • Perform service for the school and university
  • Advise undergraduate majors
  • Conduct research and/or partake in substantive creative/professional work as outlined in the faculty handbook

Education:

  • A Ph.D. in Media Studies, Communications, or a related field is strongly preferred
    • Advanced ABDs who have a confirmed defense date prior to August 15, 2023 will be considered
