Incumbents are responsible for the management of an assigned
finance function to ensure the accuracy of all grant and foundation
reporting, the effectiveness and efficiency of controls and
procedures, and compliance of regulations and requirements.
Typical Essential Duties
· Stays abreast of current changes and remain current on federal
and state funding agency requirements and determine applicability
to proposed grant expenditures while informing the Grant
· Monitors and reviews grant expenditures and assists grant
directors and managers with building budgets, reviewing and
tailoring accounts to grant needs, preparing journal entries,
presenting projections/analyses, and/or approving purchase
requests. May assist the Director of Grants Finance and Compliance
with updating and revising policies and procedures.
· Assists internal staff with fiscal responsibilities including
performing budget building assistance, tailoring accounts to grant
needs, budget management training and report explanation.
· Assists in monitoring interim balances of grant expense, prepare
ad-hoc reports and budget modification requests to funding
agencies, and advise the project directors of trends that need to
be addressed, or provided for in planning future expenditures.
Performs grant and fund accounting and reporting duties, to include
correcting misclassifications; making yearend adjustments;
preparing journal entries; and/or ensuring compliance with
applicable laws, policies, and grant requirements/guidelines.
· Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and/or grant
requirements; work may involve reviewing Federal and applicable
accounting guidelines, monitoring approved grant expenditures,
ensuring compliance requirements are met, reviewing budgets, and
approving expenditures and purchase requests.
· Maintains all compliance and fiscal documents, both in electronic
and printed files as needed, and ensure accessibility to internal
authorities and external agencies.
Prepares and reviews financial, management, audit, and other
reports/statements, or work papers; and reviews, corrects, and
approves journal entries.
· Prepares monthly bank reconciliations and record related
· Prepares interim financial statements, quarterly due to invoices,
all audit foundation schedules, and 990 tax return schedules as
· Prepares annual projected investment pooled income payout
· May complete the Federal Single Audit Compliance Report in
coordination with Student Financial Aid and respond to auditor’s
questions concerning this document. Additionally, may also provide
all source documentation requested by external auditors during
their test of internal controls and ascertain completeness of
supporting documentation, and obtain any additional support as
· Schedules and submits reimbursement requests to appropriate
external funding agencies and ensures that federal, state, and
local grant funds and expenditures have been requested, collected,

misclassifications or unallowable costs, record administration
income as authorized, grant salary allocations, and year end
· Provides support for Accounting and reporting for the MCC
Foundation, with full knowledge and experience of all Foundation
functions, including cross training and providing support as
requested/needed for accounting functions, and specific
scholarships or programs.
