Director of Donor Marketing & Communications

General Statement of Job

The Director of Donor Marketing and Communication is a full-time position. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Development, this position will support Missouri Southern’s development program by providing marketing and communication strategy and support related to fundraising.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

Lead the development of marketing and communication strategy for the university’s comprehensive fundraising efforts;

Build internal and external awareness of and support for charitable giving opportunities and their impact on Missouri Southern, its students, faculty, staff, and graduates;

Convey to current and prospective donors the Missouri Southern Foundation’s long track record of effectively investing, managing, and distributing private assets;

Work with Office of Development and Office of Alumni personnel to conceptualize and then produce gift solicitation pieces and event invitations;

Personally create or facilitate development of regular and consistent donor marketing and communication through:

  • Social and digital media posts
  • Earned and paid media opportunities (broadcast, print, outdoor, etc.)
  • Feature stories and updates on a campaign website (hosted on mssu.edu)
  • Publication of newsletters, reports, proposals, etc.
  • Graphic design of solicitation and stewardship pieces, invitations, etc.

o Videos, photography, architectural renderings, and artwork

Abide by university brand standards;

Collaborate and coordinate marketing and communication activities with relevant offices across campus such as University Relations and Marketing and the director of communication and external relations;

Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Licenses

Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university is required.

Two years of directly relatable employment experience in the marketing field is preferred.

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and general computer experience.
  • Perform tasks with personal integrity, self-confidence, enthusiasm and professionalism.
