Position Description:

The faculty of Science and Mathematics (PSM) in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts (CISA) on the Polytechnic Campus at Arizona State University (ASU) invite applications for one (1) Instructor position in Chemistry for the 2022-2023 academic year. Expectations for this position will include course instruction for lower division chemistry courses such as introductory chemistry, general chemistry and general organic chemistry; develop course syllabi; write, assign, and grade student assessments, and laboratory experiments; review and evaluate effectiveness of teaching methods and work activities; and work with faculty in curriculum development, planning, and implementation. The successful candidate will be part of the Chemistry team and work alongside biology, mathematics, and physics faculty, and is dedicated to quality instruction.

Teaching load is typically five courses that equals 15 credit hours per semester or an equivalent combination of lecture, recitations and laboratory sections. Course assignments are at the undergraduate levels that may include lectures, recitations, and laboratories and may occur in a variety of modalities (online, on-ground, hybrid) on the Polytechnic campus. Course load is determined by the faculty head.  This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure eligible position renewable on an academic year basis contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university.  Candidate must reside in Arizona, or be willing to relocate.

The Science and Mathematics faculty support students in nine different undergraduate and one graduate program in the sciences and mathematics fields and BS degrees including BS degrees in Applied Biology, Applied Mathematics and Applied Physics. We also have three minors and one certificate available. We have faculty conducting research in biology, chemistry, applied mathematics, and physics. Collaboration with faculty is imperative when designing and implementing laboratories for the programs supported by the Science and Mathematics faculty.
