Georgia College & State University is the state's designated public liberal arts university. Job Summary

The J. Whitney Bunting College of Business at Georgia College & State University, with programs of study accredited by AACSB and ABET, invites applications for the position of Temporary Lecturer of Computer Science beginning August 1, 2022. Candidates with a masters degree and disciplinary background in Computer Science are encouraged to apply. The faculty member, in this 10-month one-year position, will teach courses in Computer Science including Java. Any secondary area in Computer Science or Data Science is welcome. The Department of Information Systems and Computer Science offers academic programs of study including a BS in Computer Science, BS in Data Science (starting fall 2022), BBA in Management Information Systems, and Master of Management Information Systems and participates in the highly successful Georgia WebMBA. The candidate will meet the academic and instructional needs of students in the core curriculum as well as those majoring in programs offered by the department. The candidate will teach principles of computer science, Java, and C++ as well as other CS classes for minors and majors.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Qualified candidates will posess a minimum of at least 18 semester graduate credit hours within the teaching discipline of computer science. A master's degree is required. A doctorate in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or related field is preferred.

All faculty must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 ( (faculty credentials))

Other required qualifications include:
- understanding of the principles associated with teaching and learning;
- successful higher education teaching experience within the candidate's area of specialization;
- strong communication skills;
- a passion for working with and mentoring students; and

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Preference given to candidates with two or more years experience teaching undergraduate CS classes and experience teaching freshman level CS classes in Java. Experience in cyber security or data science a plus. Evidence of methodological innovation and creative teaching strategies is highly desirable.

Preferred Educational Qualifications
A doctorate is preferred.

Preferred Experience
Experience working in the computer science, data science, or information systems field. Successful higher education teaching experience. Knowledge of additional programming languages.
