Loyola University Chicago ( LUC ), Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Healthcare Administration. This position is a 9-month appointment.

About the Department
The Department of Healthcare Administration ( HCA Department) is home to a growing number of undergraduate and graduate programs. Located in the heart of the Midwest healthcare hub, the department is guided by a vibrant industry advisory board ( HCA External Advisory Board).

B.S. in Healthcare Administration : Established in 2006, the Healthcare Administration ( HCA ) program is comprised of the AUPHA Certified B.S. in HCA plus three accelerated degree programs leading to the B.S./ MBA, B.S./ MPH or B.S./ MHA . There are roughly 15 full-time and adjunct faculty engaged with nearly 200 majors and minors. The growing HCA program engages with over 75 different healthcare organizations in the greater Chicago landscape through internships, service-learning experiences. The program proudly claims three national Case Competition wins in the last three years. The program has strong interconnections throughout the university, contributing coursework to the B.S. in Public Health, the pre-health studies program, and the undergraduate population as a whole. The BS degree program is physically located on the Lakeshore Campus.

Master’s in Healthcare Administration: The Master’s in Healthcare Administration ( MHA ) program is an online degree program addressing critical areas of need in healthcare delivery through three specialty tracks: Healthcare Business Intelligence, Healthcare Systems and Community Engagement, or Post-Acute Care Administration. The graduate program is admitting its second cohort this fall and aims to prepare patient-centered, innovative leaders in improving healthcare access, quality and cost. Immersion weekends are a central feature of the online MHA and expose students to the Chicago healthcare market while building teamwork and leadership skills. The MHA is housed at Loyola’s Health Science Campus in Maywood.

Academic Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach HCA courses each academic year at the graduate and undergraduate levels, both online and in-person, on both the Health Sciences Campus in Maywood and Lake Shore Campus in Chicago
  • Engage in meaningful HCA -related scholarship in a collaborative environment consistent with rank
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students
  • Work with colleagues to enhance and improve existing programs and develop new academic ones
  • Serve on University, school, departmental or other academic unit committees
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with applied leadership experience and teaching portfolio who will complement our current department strengths. Strong candidates will demonstrate evidence of expertise and potential to engage in scholarly endeavor in health management ethics, health systems operations, healthcare regulatory and compliance systems, and/or healthcare quality processes. The candidate’s ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and in teams will be considered.

The ideal candidate also must be able to meet rank and tenure guidelines at the Assistant/Associate Professor level.

Required
  • Doctoral degree in healthcare administration or related area
  • Prior teaching experience in higher education
  • Applied experience in healthcare leadership or senior administrative position
  • Expertise in teaching and/or scholarly focus in more than one of these areas:
    • Health management ethics
    • Health systems operations, management, and service delivery
    • Healthcare regulatory and compliance systems
    • Healthcare quality processes and systems
  • Demonstrated potential to engage in meaningful scholarship in healthcare administration
  • Evidence of exemplary teaching record through course evaluations, peer reviews, etc.
  • Evidence of mentoring and advising undergraduate or graduate students
  • Evidence of professional service
  • Outstanding written and oral skills to teach and present scholarship
  • Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Record of commitment to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion in academic or professional environments

  • Experience working with experiential learning programs, e.g., interns, capstones or service-learning
