Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Catering Operations Director, this position provides
management of on and off site catered events for Memorial Union, while supporting Union South and other Wisconsin Union and Campus buildings. Receptions range from 10 to 1500 guests, with
ballrooms and multiple event spaces, with up to 800 patrons for a single banquet. Provide
supervision of permanent staff and part time staff. Assist to develop food, wage and material costs
for a budget of approximately $2 million.

Responsibilities:

Provides guidance for food service operations in environments such as dining, retail, and/or catering venues, including financial and long term operational planning to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve food service goals.
  • 35% Provides operational guidance for food service activities, identifies, develops, facilitates staff training opportunities, and/or supervises dining staff
  • 15% Plans and directs staff implementation of operating policies and procedures to ensure adherence to safe food quality, handling, and sanitation processes and procedures
  • 10% Monitors the unit budget and approves expenditures
  • 10% Tracks and forecasts inventory levels and places replenishment orders
  • 20% Directs and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation and associated activities
  • 10% Develops staff resources, menus, and communication plans based on established goals

Education:

Preferred
Associate's Degree

Qualifications:

2 years in food service, hospitality or banquet catering. Preferred experience in training, supervising and overseeing employees as well as writing schedules and making adjustments based on business needs.

License/Certification:

Preferred
Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards

Preferred
ServSafe Certification
Able to obtain within 6 months
