Posting Details Position Information Position Title Associate Vice President - Financial Aid and Enrollment Division Enrollment Department/Office Financial Aid Office Position Summary Information Advertisement St. Catherine University and the Enrollment Division invite applications for an Associate Vice President, Financial Aid position.

The Associate Vice President (AVP), Financial Aid advances enrollment and financial objectives across the university’s colleges and schools. TheAVPleads the Financial Aid staff and operations to steward university resources and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. The individual leads collaboration with admission, finance, the registrar and academic affairs to implement strategies to support pricing, net revenue, recruitment, retention, and related initiatives across the College for Women, the College for Adults and Graduate College. The individual leads the delivery of a comprehensive program to provide prospective and current students financial planning and financial aid counseling. The role leads an operation responsible for the processing of 10,000 prospective and enrolled student aid applications and annual financial awards totaling $100 million dollars. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the financial aid office and sustain a culture of excellence and integrity, leading by example and holding the team accountable for accuracy and adherence to numerous federal and state requirements and deadlines.
  • Establish department goals and articulate vision and goals of University, division, and Financial Aid Office.
  • Establish and monitor key performance metrics and internal controls to achieve operational objectives and ensure program compliance in the administration of financial aid.
  • Create and manage student financial aid and financial aid operations budgets.
  • Plan and implement an annual financial aid packaging and scholarship strategy to maximize the use of financial aid.
  • Participate in and respond to audits and reviews by federal, state and independent agencies, program participation updates, recertification and accreditation matters
  • Identify institutional, local, regional, and national trends and issues impacting aid programs, policy and procedures.
  • Initiate policy and procedure changes to accommodate frequent program and regulatory changes.
  • Facilitate and manage financial aid and information technology staff so technology systems and programs comply with regulatory requirements, enhance student services and create efficiencies for financial aid personnel.
  • Lead and ensure accurate and timely submission of theFISAPand other required federal and state reports.
  • Lead Title IV Recertification according to federal Department of Education schedule – currently through June 2027.
  • Provide management and delivery of Financial Literacy Office, related programming and student services.
  • Maintain knowledge of financial aid programs to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and institutional policies.
  • Provide leadership as we balance headcount goals, academic quality and achieving our desired net tuition revenue, new student and retention goals.
  • Review, research, and provide expertise and consultation for proposed or enacted regulatory changes.
  • Implement policy and procedure reviews to address frequent program and regulatory changes.
  • Lead a department of 16 staff and 8 student employees while supervising senior financial aid staff that includes 5 direct reports.
  • Establish goals, evaluate performance, and provide feedback to ensure appropriate training, professional development, staff success, and achievement of department and division goals.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Six (6) years of increasing responsibilities in the area of financial aid.
  • Knowledge of financial aid practices, policies and procedures with an emphasis in federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies and regulations.
  • Experience with financial aid technical requirements and technology systems to guide operations and student service.
  • Experience collaborating with the registrar’s office, student advising, student accounts, IT and institutional research in the delivery of financial aid programs.
  • Understanding of financial aid leveraging, the development of scholarship matrices to support enrollment and retention while optimizing net tuition revenue.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace with particular emphasis on database and spreadsheet applications.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • Eight (8) years of increasingly responsible experience in financial aid and enrollment.
  • Expertise in federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies and regulations, financial aid technical operations.
  • Working knowledge of the Banner system
  • Experience with additional financial aid software systems along with Starfish and Slate to support the administration of financial aid and student services.
  • Experience teaming with institutional advancement in the design, development and delivery of funded scholarship programs.
  • The ability to quickly and precisely think through complex situations.
