St. Catherine University has strong certificate and associate degree options in our healthcare programs and we are building upon that foundation to shift more fully into the Continuing Education market. Continuing Education delivers education and training to working adults who are seeking to grow their career marketability and to those who have not had the chance to access higher education. TheDirector of Continuing Educationhas an opportunity to identify market needs and transform those into learning programs that elevate individual career potential. This Director will lead the creation, launch, and ongoing delivery of quality, market-aligned programs for individual learners and client organizations to generate positive financial results. Responsibilities are to:

  • Build successful relationships with corporate, health care, non-profit, and government leaders to position St. Catherine University as the hub to serve workforce development and training in select fields.
  • Lead the implementation of entrepreneurial noncredit programs to provide training to meet the needs within the corporate, health care, government and non-profit sectors. This may include micro-credentialing, certifications and trainings.
  • Identify and cultivate clients for contract learning opportunities to support revenue objectives.
  • Implement offerings to generate near-term and ongoing revenue streams for the university.
  • Cultivate opportunities with technology firms, venture funding groups and non-governmental agencies to drive St. Catherine’s growth in this market sector.
  • Conduct market analysis to guide program pricing and fees along with operational and instructional expenses to support financial objectives of the unit.
  • Create and implement a business development pipeline strategy to achieve revenue goals.
  • Support, with non-degree offerings, a vertical academic strategy for degree program growth.
  • Initiate collaborations with academic affairs, deans, faculty and enrollment to design a broad array of offerings that serve the adult learner in a variety of delivery formats.
  • Partner with enrollment, finance, human resources, information technology, marketing, the registrar and other University units to support continuing education delivery and operations.
  • Establish policies and standard operating procedures for unit operations and adult learner initiatives that are consistent with the university’s academic and strategic enrollment plans.
  • Ensure the overall fiscal health of the operation and achieve the profitability targets of individual program and unit offerings.
  • Forecast, monitor, and review revenue and expenses to meet revenue targets.
  • Prioritize opportunities and partnerships that achieve program goals.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five (5) years of experience in sales and/or business development in either education or professional services
  • Experience developing and implementing profitable educational or professional services programs that have achieved revenue or enrollment goals.
  • Experience fostering strong partnerships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders that lead to revenue producing opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in education, training and development, business, or related field.
  • Experience creating and implementing continuing education programs.
  • Business development and sales experience with start-up and new ventures.
  • Experience in digital marketing and program design.
  • Understanding of adult learner theory and product development concepts that can be applied to higher education to increase revenue.
  • Knowledge of the academic fields of business, health sciences or nursing.
  • An extensive professional network of contacts in the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota.
