Assistant Director for Undergraduate Education - Kline School of Law

Job Summary

Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law seeks an Assistant Director to support Kline’s new undergraduate law degree; one of only three such programs in the United States. We seek an experienced student advisor and creative thinker capable of working collaboratively with Law School and University offices and independently to meet immediate deadlines and pursue long-term projects that support student success and effective administrative functioning. The Assistant Director will serve as the primary academic advisor to students enrolled in this highly interdisciplinary undergraduate program, and will be instrumental in building and sustaining positive relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators at Kline and across the University. We expect significant growth in the program over the coming years and anticipate room for additional responsibilities and advancement. This position reports directly to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education.

Essential Functions

Program & advising duties:
  • Advise students on degree requirements for major and minor, course selection, and track progress toward completion, often in consultation with other academic units
  • Provide referrals for students to appropriate campus resources (e.g., tutoring, counseling, disability resources, study abroad)
  • Schedule course offerings in consultation with undergraduate faculty and the Registrar’s Office
  • Assist with undergraduate admissions, recruiting, and orientation (note: requires occasional evening/weekend hours)
  • Collect, organize, and disseminate information about law-related opportunities across the University
  • Support the development of new experiential learning opportunities
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student organizations at Kline and across the University to develop educational events, professional development opportunities, topical workshops, and other programs of interest.
Administrative duties:
  • Coordinate with Law School staff to manage the program budget and reporting, day-to-day oversight, purchasing, reimbursement, etc.
  • Prepare written correspondence, memoranda, and reports for the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education
  • Event planning (including reserving space, arranging catering, and handling travel arrangements and reimbursements)
  • Maintain program records and prepare reports based on university data
  • Work with Law School staff on marketing and communication strategies, including social media platforms
  • Handle day-to-day and public-facing operations for the undergraduate program
Personnel duties:
  • Work with Law School staff to coordinate HR function for adjunct faculty including drafting adjunct appointment contracts, preparing and monitoring hiring forms, coordinating on-boarding process
  • Assist faculty in daily tasks, provide office management and logistical support
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise work-study students
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
3-5 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 3-5 years experience in higher education advising and/or administration
  • Proficiency with technologies including Office 365 (including Sharepoint) and Banner
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including a great sense of humor
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds with varied career goals.
