Academic Advisor, Lansing Program Center
Northwood University’s Lansing Program Center seeks an Academic Advisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of the program center and provide academic advising support to adult learners. This includes supporting students from conversion to graduation. This role reports to the University Registrar.

Responsibilities:
- Assist students with accurate degree completion planning, course scheduling, identifying resources and developing achievable academic goals;
- Resolve st udent issues in an expedient and diplomatic manner;
- Gather appropriate documentation and review files for conversion;
- Responsible for timely and accurate data entry in Colleague, Blackboard, Perceptive Content and Student Planning;
- Maintain clear communication with advising directors and Registrars;
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to problem solve and share best practicesl
- Assist in developing the annual course schedule and budget for the center;
- Assist with persistence, retention and graduation goals;
- Perform testing for upgrades to Student Planning, as needed;
- Prepare institutional reports, as needed;
- Participate in commencement activities;
- Participate on committees and special projects, as assigned;
- Perform such other duties as may be delegated or assigned.
- A Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred;
- Exceptional interpersonal communication, networking and presentation skills;
- Experience in developing and implementing processes to improve the function of an administrative unit;
- Familiarity of Academic Advising methods;
- Familiarity with university academic, curricular, and legal policies (especially FERPA) that pertain to the functions of a records office;
- Ability to work independently and as a team member;
- A positive attitude, ability to plan and adapt to change;
- High level of motivation, integrity, ethics and dedication to the university mission;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office; ability to use Office programs in concert with Ellucian Colleague to effectively report on key administrative processes;
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, communication and organization skills.
