OU COVID-19 VACCINATION POLICY
COVID-19 vaccinations are now required for all Oakland University students, faculty and staff.

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Oakland University invites applications for two one-year visiting positions at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor (VAP) of Mathematics beginning Fall Semester 2022 (August 15, 2022). Responsibilities of these positions include teaching, research, and contribution to the Department's program. For these appointments, candidates must have a Ph.D. (or its requirements completed) in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related area by August 15, 2022.

The primary selection criteria will be an applicant's potential for effective teaching (at both undergraduate and graduate level) and quality research in mathematics. Amongst applicants who are found highly qualified with respect to these criteria, preference will be given to those who can fulfill the department's current instructional needs as well as those with strong research collaboration potential with members of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Due to the pandemic, successful candidates may be expected to teach courses in a non-traditional way depending on the university's response to this pandemic

Applications should be completed by June 20, 2022 to ensure full consideration.
Please direct any questions to: Professor Eddie Cheng, VAP Search Committee Chair at echeng@oakland.edu.

Candidates must pass a background check in order to be hired.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; provided, however, that Oakland University will sponsor an individual for J-1 visa status if the individual is selected for the position and if Oakland University determines that the individual may be eligible for J-1 visa status. Oakland University will not sponsor applicants for this position for work visa status in any category other than J-1.Ph.D. (or its requirements completed) in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related area by August 15, 2022.
