Job Description

The School of Accountancy in the Trulaske College of Business at the University of Missouri-Columbia invites applications for a tenure-track position beginning in the 2023-2024 academic year. Applicants will be considered for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor and will be expected to conduct research and teach in the area of Taxation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a doctoral degree in accounting or closely related field from an AACSB-accredited program or anticipate completion of such a degree by August 2023.

Candidates will be evaluated on:

Successful candidates must have an active research program that demonstrates the ability or potential to publish in highly rated peer-reviewed journals. Candidates should be committed to effective and innovative teaching and be able to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level. Applicants will be evaluated based on their past academic record, current work in process, and evidence of teaching effectiveness.

About the School of Accountancy at MU:

The School of Accountancy currently has 12 tenured or tenure-track faculty, all of whom are research active. The faculty enjoy a collegial and collaborative research environment with an active research workshop series and strong research support. Reflecting the collaborative and supportive research environment, the School of Accountancy has been ranked in the top ten nationally in the past on the Scholarly Research Index by Academic Analytics. Additionally, the School of Accountancy was recently the recipient of a $1 million gift to establish an endowment to support excellence in tax research and tax education.

The School of Accountancy offers a 150-hour program that simultaneously confers undergraduate and master’s degrees, an online master’s degree, and a doctorate degree. In the most recent Public Accounting Report (PAR) rankings, the School was ranked in the Top 13 nationally for Undergraduate and Graduate (Master’s) programs and Top 25 for Doctoral programs. When scaled by faculty size, the School is ranked in the Top 3 nationally for both Undergraduate and Master’s programs. Our programs are supported by strong relationships with the accounting profession, including accounting firms, companies, and academic/professional associations. The School of Accountancy was one of nine schools nationally to be selected for hosting the KPMG Master of Accounting with Data & Analytics (MADA) for 2018-2021. This has been followed up with renewal in 2022 of access to MADA resources and scholarships funding.
