Primary Function
  • Directs daily operations of multiple retail food service locations to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory, and resources to perform their jobs and meet goals and deadlines.
  • Establishes operating standards and communicates to employees.
  • Supervises daily activities and delegates duties.
  • Determines specifications for food & supplies, prepares budgets, sources, hires, trains and evaluates employees.
Duties and Responsibilities (generally)
  • Coordinates retail policies & procedures.
  • Coordinates programs for training and development of staff.
  • Determines hiring needs and approves staff hiring.
  • Reviews and analyzes reports and implements corrective action.
  • Manages, counsels, and motivates employees.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local and NIU policies.
  • Disseminates information to employees and all involved parties concerning all pertinent information.
  • Maintains a safe work environment.
  • Maintains operations within approved budgets and controls costs.
  • Promotes retail locations to customers and maintains good public relations, responds to complaints and operational issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications for this position

1. (A) Bachelor’s degree in a foods and nutrition program (such as food and lodging management or dietetics) from a recognized institution and five (5) years of progressively more responsible supervisory and managerial experience in commercial or institutional food service operations
or
(B) certification from a two-year program in foods and nutrition from a recognized institution and six (6) years of progressively more responsible supervisory and managerial experience in commercial or institutional food service operations
or
© eight (8) years of progressively more responsible supervisory and managerial experience in commercial or instructional food service operations

2. Food Handlers Certificate or Food Service Manager Certification required within 30 days of hire

Actual hiring rate is commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity; position includes a robust benefits package to eligible applicants.
