Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field
  • 7 years of full-time work experience in student housing.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Progressive experience within Residential Life, Education or Experience programming.
  • Experience with supervision of full-time staff.
  • Experience with building management and staff engagement.
  • Experience with Living-Learning communities.
  • Experience with retention and student success programming.


Job Description:
The Director for the Residential Experience will be responsible for the design, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive on-campus living experience. Overseeing functions of training, selection, student conduct, community engagement. Living-Learning programs and assessment, this position will be charged with building an experience designed to enhance engagement and involvement, increase the role housing plays in student support, and target an increase in retention rates of on-campus students. This position will report directly to the Executive Director of Housing and Residential Life.

Job Duties:
Supervision
  • Directly supervise one Associate Director for Residential Education, two Assistant Directors, and one Administrative Assistant II. Indirectly supervise and provide direction to four Assistant Directors, 20 Residence Directors, six Graduate Assistants, and 218 Resident Assistants.



Experience Development
  • Oversee the development cohesive and comprehensive residential experience rooted in the goals of student success and retention.
  • Develop initiatives with a strong focus on community development and student engagement and involvement.
  • Engage in the re-invigoration and support of a robust Living-Learning program.

Student Support and Crisis Response
  • Oversee an on-call structure focused on providing support to students during and after hours.
  • Oversee a student conduct process for on-campus students that aligns with the campus wide system.
  • Develop and grow a student of concern intervention program that seamlessly integrates with existing campus resources.

Departmental Administration
  • Serve as a member of the departmental senior leadership team in making decisions to impact the full on-campus experience.
  • Oversee unit budget and ensure fiscal stewardship and support.
  • Oversee strategic planning and outcomes development consistent with departmental, divisional and institutional goals and priorities.
