Postdoctoral Research Associate

About the Opportunity

Summary & Responsibilities:

The Learning and Brain Development Lab in the Psychology Department at Northeastern University (PI: Juliet Davidow) is seeking a full-time postdoctoral researcher to join the lab. The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to ongoing projects on the development of reinforcement learning and memory interactions, as well as develop and lead new projects in the lab and in collaboration with others at Northeastern and other institutions. Individuals from historically underrepresented groups in science are encouraged to apply.

The lab investigates how typical neurodevelopment during adolescence supports motivated and goal-directed behaviors, such as learning, decision-making and executive functions. For more information about the lab, please visit: https://lbdlpsych.sites.northeastern.edu/. We use a variety of tools to ask about neural and behavioral mechanisms, including creative behavioral paradigms, computational models, and non-invasive brain imaging, conducted on campus at NUBIC, a state-of-the-art imaging center with a research dedicated Siemens MAGNETOM Prisma 3T MRI scanner https://web.northeastern.edu/nubic/about/equipment/.

Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in psychology; or systems, cognitive, or computational neuroscience; or in math, physics, engineering, or computer science, with relevant research experience. Research experience in one of the following techniques is required: functional or structural brain imaging studies in humans or other species using MRI and/or computational modeling of observed or simulated behavior. Priority consideration will be given to candidates with publications demonstrating one or more of these techniques. Proficiency in a programming language (e.g., MATLAB, Python, JavaScript, R, etc.) is required. Experience conducting experimental behavioral studies in developmental or other special populations is a plus and should be mentioned in the application materials.

To apply, please upload as a single PDF: (1) 1-page cover letter describing your qualifications, research interests, and your fit with the position; (2) CV; (3) contact information for 2-4 professional references (please include name, title, email, and relationship to you); and (4) 1-3 representative publications.

The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal. Start date is flexible; summer or fall 2022 preferred, but senior doctoral students (4th year +) will be considered and are encouraged to apply. Review of applications will start immediately and will continue until the position is filled. For best consideration, please submit your application by June 15, 2022. Questions should be addressed to j.davidow@northeastern.edu.
