Vacancy Number: S-00896 Position Title: Assistant Women's Basketball Coach Classification Title: Assistant Coach Department: Athletics Employment Type: Temporary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruit student athletes for women’s basketball.
- Coach assigned players, units, or skill positions.
- Assist with or organize and supervise strength and conditioning program(s) in partnership with the Strength & Conditioning designee.
- Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which women’s basketball is conducted at all times when athletes are present; adhere to a highly efficient and technically sound program of injury prevention and follow up.
- Maintain competency in rules, rule interpretations, meet procedures, coaching techniques and general information about all aspects of women’s basketball.
- Assist student athletes to develop academically.
- Keep appropriate team/individual statistics.
- Assist with fundraising and community outreach events.
- As a part of the job responsibilities associated with this position, knowledge of rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA and conference should be maintained, reviewed and practiced to ensure compliance relative to those applicable duties.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
- Knowledge of assigned sport techniques
- Knowledge of institutional policies, practices and procedures
- Interpersonal skills
- Ability to apply acceptable teaching/coaching techniques
- Ability to counsel and advise pre-college and college student athletes
- Ability to research and analyze data and reports
- Ability to operate audio/video equipment and video editing equipment
- Ability to make oral and written presentations
Bachelors Degree and two (2) years of experience in coaching basketball are required. Experience coaching at the university or college level is preferred.
