The Opportunity:

The College of Journalism and Communications graduate online programs (UF CJC Online) seeks an Academic Advisor II to join our team and provide support services for current and prospective online graduate students in the College of Journalism and Communications.

Reporting to the Director of UF CJC Online, the academic advisor serves as a primary support staff member for a complex academic program. The ideal candidate will be adept at simultaneously handling responsibilities from multiple areas including admissions, enrollment, advising and administrative duties to support of the Director.

Typical daily activities include emailing and speaking on the phone with students, resolving student issues, coordinating class schedules, updating student files, creating reports and more. This position collaborates daily with one other student advisor, our admissions officer and faculty coordinator.

A successful candidate will be a quick learner, have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment. Additionally, desirable candidates will provide evidence of collegiality, organizational skills, and commitment to service. Knowledge of the UF student records systems and Salesforce is a plus.

The College of Journalism and Communications has 74 full-time faculty members, 87 full-time staff and approximately 500 other classifications including but not limited to: Graduate Assistants, Post-Doc Associates, Adjunct Instructors, Student Assistants, and Other Personnel Services (OPS).

CJC has a total of four undergraduate academic departments: Advertising, Journalism, Public Relations, and Media Production, Management and Technology. Expected Salary:

$49,000 - $53,000 annual

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in education, counseling, or an academic field directly related to the advisor's area of responsibility and one year of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or an academic field directly related to the advisor's area of responsibility and two years of relevant experience.

Schedule Information:
This is an in-person/on-campus position located in Gainesville, FL. We are currently working in a hybrid work arrangement (3 days on campus and 2 days remote). This arrangement may change in the future at the discretion of college leadership. Work hours are 8:00am-4:30pm daily.
