Position Summary/Job Description

Oversees and directs the overall operations, daily activities, staff, and faculty of the Nursing program in support of the College’s mission statement and in accordance with established goals and objectives, policies, and procedures of the Nursing and Health Sciences Division.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Nursing with a minimum of five years of teaching and relevant administrative experience in curriculum/course development, review and implementation, and oversight of faculty and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with a culturally diverse population and to effectively and respectfully function and communicate within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Broad and comprehensive knowledge of Nursing curriculum and Nursing practice and understanding of the principles, methods, and techniques in program management, design, implementation, assessment, and administration required. Knowledge of budgeting and cost control and skill in fiscal management required. Ability to think conceptually, develop and implement policies and procedures, and make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments required. Effective verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, influence and negotiation skills required. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of constituencies and the academically under prepared in a multi-cultural community required. Effective organization and prioritization skills required. Computer proficiency also required. Bilingual ability preferred.
