Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) is currently the fourth largest of N.C. Community College System's 58 institutions. We are looking for a strategic, innovative, and transformational leader for our Human Resources Specialist position to join our team and operationalize our institutional mission, vision, and values to build our learning community further.

This position provides technical support to the Human Resources Department using the College's HRIS software (Ellucian aka Datatel/Colleague) for accurate and efficient data entry for Employee Performance Appraisals (EPA), statistical reports, and scanning of employee files. Provides specialized administrative and technical services in the areas of recruitment, advertising, record keeping, employee benefits and special projects. Serves as backup for employee onboarding (benefit orientations) sessions as needed. Receives and processes advertising information for the recruitment of applicants for college-wide vacant positions. Screens applications and maintains recruitment records. S/he serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the College's hiring process for managers and serves as a "help desk technician" for PeopleAdmin. This position will also train new hiring managers on all aspects of the hiring process. This position is responsible for applying the college's compensation plan to existing and newly hired employees, classification assessments, and reviewing position descriptions to determine the exemption status under the Fair Labor Standards Act.Works in secondary role with Senior HR Specialist to prepare employee turnover, longevity and other reports as may be requested by HR Director.

Education Required:
  • Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration or related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution OR Associate degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution and 4 years of HR experience/ 2 years of College and 4 years of HR experience
Experience Required:
  • 2 years of experience working in HR with various facets of recruitment/hiring
Experience Preferred:
  • Experience working in HR for local, state or federal government a plus
  • Experience with PowerPoint preferred.
  • Preferred experience with HRIS software Ellucian (aka Datatel/Colleague), PeopleAdmin or other applicant tracking software
