Assocate Director-HR for Planning, Real Estate, and Facilities

About the Opportunity

Working in partnership with the Director of HR for the Planning, Real Estate, and Facilities Division (PREF), and partnering with colleagues in central Human Resources, The Associate Director will serve the entire population of the division, delivering training, learning and talent development, change management, and organization development solutions, cultivating all aspects of the employee life cycle and will provide hands-on leadership and expertise to HR projects and programs. Projects will vary in size, duration, and complexity, will have significant and measurable value outcomes, and will be highly visible with senior-level sponsorship.

Responsibilities include:

Training: Manages, plans, and administers training and staff development programs for all departments across division. Works closely with Trades and Services managers in analyzing and administering training to include development of new training programs and/or modify and improve existing programs. Responsible for maximizing training effectiveness through collaboration with department Associate Vice Presidents (AVPs), Directors and Managers, and evaluation of training impact. Manages the Trades and Services training program to include tracking, selecting, and managing vendors and other training partnerships. Meets with departmental leadership to define departmental training goals, tracks progress toward goals, and contacts and evaluates vendors to ensure the proper training is available throughout the year. Partners with central Human Resources and other internal and external stakeholders to fully leverage training and development opportunities for division employees.

Recruiting/Hiring/Onboarding/Off-Boarding: Works directly with division hiring managers on hiring processes. On-boarding/Off-boarding. Assist hiring managers with personnel management system (Workday) processes for posting positions, monitoring applicant pool, scheduling interviews, reference checks, I9 employment verification, overseeing entire process for various positions as assigned. Supervise and manage part-time student hire process, Coops, and Temporary Non-Student hires.

Personnel Management: Supports the Director in achieving divisional goals on all employee related matters. Assist managers in the review and analysis of employee issues and recommend appropriate action. Documentation of personnel issues as needed. Works as a strategic partner to division managers, while simultaneously working as an employee advocate. Must possess ability to follow through, develop consensus, and communicate closure around diverse issues. Assist Director in helping divisional managers with goal setting, performance review process, and organizational development, training, conflict resolution, administrative customer service quality, and emerging trends in organization change.

Special Projects: Acts as division representative for various central Human Resources meetings and university committees. Compile data and prepare a variety of reports i.e., position management, leave of absence, paid time off and historical trends, training. Participation in divisional event committee planning. Maintain Divisions Organizational charts.

Qualifications: A bachelor's degree required. An advanced degree in fields such as communications, leadership, or HRM is desirable. Plus 6 - 8 years of HR related experience. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to professional staff is essential. Must possess ability to exercise good judgment, confidentiality and sensitivity, problem solving and creativity to changing needs and situations. Strong oral and written communication, with solid analytical skills and effective decision-making is essential. Organizational and leadership skills are critical to success in this position. Must be adaptable, resilient, with the ability to manage multiple and rapidly changing priorities while remaining focused on customer-centered service Confidentiality is paramount.
