Department Summary
The College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) is a large and complex college that offers the core liberal arts and sciences curriculum at the University of Oregon. The majority of undergraduates at UO go on to pursue a degree in one of the College's 40+ undergraduate degree programs. CAS also has 30+ doctoral programs that produce approximately 75% of the PhDs at the University of Oregon. CAS is home to approximately 750 faculty, over 1000 graduate employees, and 200 administrative employees. CAS has annual budgeted operations expenditures of approximately $156 million and utilizes slightly more than half a million square feet of space spread over 50 separate buildings both on- and off-campus.
Position Summary
This position will assist the Director of Planning, Design and Facilities with CAS space management, minor renovation projects, facilities management duties, and related tasks. CAS departments and programs are housed in a wide variety of facility types ranging from designated historic structures to new science buildings.

The position will also include service as the Operations and Facility Manager for Tykeson Hall. The facility is an ~64,000 sq. ft. building that houses the College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Office, the Division of Equity and Inclusion, Tykeson Advising, and the UO Career Center. The building is comprised of offices, conference rooms, shared spaces, event spaces, and classrooms.

The position will work directly with and is supervised by the Director of Planning, Design and Facilities.

This position could be required to work outside regular office hours to support events and building operations.
Minimum Requirements
  • Two years of experience in a professional capacity working with facilities management, space allocation and analytics, and/or planning, design, and construction.
    Professional Competencies
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak and work effectively with campus faculty, staff and students, and external contractors and vendors.
  • Knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Excellent time management and organization abilities, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet tight deadlines, work both collaboratively with a team and independently.
  • Knowledge of building construction and infrastructure systems, materials and finishes, furnishings, building fixtures and equipment, and building standards.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
  • Experience with space databases and software.
  • Experience with facilities scheduling software and/or events management.
  • Experience supervising employees or leading work teams.
