POSITION TITLE: Lecturer Pool - Graduate and Professional Studies in Education

POSITION DETAILS:

The Graduate and Professional Studies in Education (GPSE) Branch inspires the highest standards in academics by offering a range of degree programs. GPSE members assert that key elements to this environment are excellence in teaching, experience, and scholarship, each informing the other. The branch is committed to advancing the campus-wide commitment to antiracism and inclusion. As an anchor institution within the diverse Sacramento region, we prepare individuals to be agents of change, committed to social justice, equity, and inclusion in culturally and linguistically diverse schools and communities.

We seek part-time lecturers to serve in the following areas:
  1. Part-time lecturers to serve as university supervisors for students seeking California Credentials in Counseling, school psychology, and/or school administration. This work may involve traveling to local school to observe, support, and/or evaluate credential candidates; and regular collaboration with other supervisory and instructional faculty.
  2. Part-time lecturers to teach graduate level courses in the following Masters programs: Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, School Psychology, Counseling Programs, Multicultural Education, Gender Equity, Language and Literacy, Curriculum and Instruction

Duties of a part-time lecturer include instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments, including dates, time, and modality, are made by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean.

Part-time lecturers are instructional faculty with conditional appointments based on enrollment and budget. Hires from the pool of applicants are made when there are instructional needs to fill coursework offered by an academic department based on changing enrollment patterns, changes to tenure-track faculty assignments, and other factors that cannot be addressed with our existing faculty. Initial appointments are typically for one semester, but occasionally academic year initial appointments are made. Appointments may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance. Often appointments are made just prior to the start of the semester.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Masters in the field you seek to apply or closely related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate; for instructional faculty: prior experience in the field you are applying; for field supervisor positions: experience mentoring or coaching.
