Position Summary:
The Associate Director of Dining & Campus Services serves as the University of Idaho leader in the management of dining services operations. They are responsible for the planning, organization, and operational and fiscal oversight of campus food and beverage programs at the University of Idaho. This includes the campus dining contract, pouring and vending agreement, beer and wine sales, and self-operated dining enterprises. The associate director ensures that both contracted and self-operated food and beverage programs are being run to meet the needs of a diverse student and guest population in addition to meeting the financial goals of Campus Services, Auxiliary Services and the University of Idaho.
The associate director is a highly visible member of the university community with responsibilities that extend to the greater campus, including key stakeholders in the President's Office, University Advancement, Alumni Relations, Athletics, Student Affairs, Strategic Enrollment Management, Housing & Residence Life, and the 10 academic colleges. They are part of the Campus Services Team in support of our largest group of users for campus dining: residential students. This position will ensure residential students have a voice in campus dining options, meal plan offerings and that campus dining meets their dining needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent) in finance, business, administration, or hospitality; four years of experience in food service management, business administration, hotel and restaurant management or related field (7 total) may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with procurement and contract management;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with food service management, business administration, hotel and restaurant management or related field.






Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience working for or supervising a third party dining services provider;
  • Experience in food service operations and management including maintenance, operating systems, emergency procedures and risk management;
  • Two years of experience running a large comprehensive multi-unit dining program;
  • Demonstrated project management experience;
  • Demonstrated understanding of special needs of customers, including but not limited to nutrition programs, accommodations for allergies, and working knowledge of ADA issues impacting food service programs.
