The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Senior Research and Programmer Analyst. The Senior Research and Programmer Analyst provides advanced technical leadership and support for ensuring the accuracy of data in support of all student financial services (Financial Aid and Student Accounts), data-centric programming and mining, report writing, statistical analysis to facilitate a culture of data-informed decision making. This position leads the efforts relative to the development, setup, and maintenance of the Financial Aid (FA) and Student Accounts (SA) modules within the student information system (Oracle’s PeopleSoft Campus Solutions), supports FA and SA staff in the development and continuous improvement of business processes, maintains effective working relationships with other functional areas on campus including Admissions, Advising, Institutional Research and Assessment, Student Records (Registrar), and TRIO.

Required Qualifications:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three to five years of professional experience
  • Three to five years of experience using SPSS, SQL, SQR, Microsoft Excel, VBA, and Access, relational databases, reporting, and query writers
  • Solid knowledge of relational database design, the ability to read and understand data dictionaries, the ability to infer the relationship of tables to the application and the process
  • Advances knowledge of dynamic relational databases, tables, records, and effective dating, the ability to infer the relationship of tables to the application and the process
  • Advanced experience in designing, developing, and creating algorithms using a computer program language within a programming paradigm
  • Advanced abilities and skills to cross-reference data across multiple platforms
  • Advanced ability to develop complex reports and queries to meet institutional reporting requirements
  • Significant prior experience and knowledge with PeopleSoft or similar student ERP system
  • Must be detail-oriented and have demonstrated exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and follow through all phases of completion
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical personnel
  • High level of independent judgment and analysis and the ability to interact collaboratively while cultivating relationships with other departments
  • Ability to travel for training or meetings, both in and out of state, to include required overnight trips to the campus throughout the year.


Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Master’s degree
  • Five or more years of experience administering or developing databases and database applications and reports
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft
  • Previous experience with Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Student Employment, and/or Student Records


Work Schedule:  
Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, evenings and weekends as necessary.

Salary:  
A typical salary for this position is 65-70K and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
