CLINICAL COORDINATOR - NURSING
MALCOLM X COLLEGE
Malcolm X College is currently seeking a Clinical Coordinator for the Nursing program. Reporting to an assigned administrator, a Clinical Coordinator - Nursing is responsible for coordinating the clinical placement of nursing students at various clinical sites that provide students with supervised clinical learning experiences based on their learning needs.
The Clinical Coordinator develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with clinical affiliates including hospitals, clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and other agencies, ensuring that students’ clinical experiences meet the educational requirements of the nursing curriculum. Performs related duties as required.
This role is expected to travel to clinical sites such as a partner hospital or long-term care facility.
The School of Nursing offers an associate’s degree(AAS) in Nursing, a 69 credit hour program that prepares graduates for the NCLEX-RN licensure exam; and a Practical Nursing Advance Certificate Program, a 3 semester, 49 credit hour program that prepares graduates for the NCLEX-PN licensure exam.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Functions as a liaison between clinical affiliates, nursing faculty, and nursing program administrators to ensure a high level of quality in students’ learning experience during the clinical education component of the curriculum.
- Works collaboratively with nursing faculty and clinical site administrators to provide clinical rotations that meet students’ learning objectives.
- Maintains student health records; reviews required health and safety documents, including vaccination and drug screening records, to ensure they are current and in compliance with the nursing program and clinical agency requirements.
- Facilitates and problem-solves clinical placement for students to receive supervised clinical learning experiences in areas including medical-surgical, mental health, maternal child, pediatrics, and gerontology nursing.
- Coordinates the gathering of agency specific documentation (i.e. background checks, Healthcare BLS certification) necessary for student placement at clinical agency sites.
- Provides faculty with required site-specific orientation materials and schedules faculty and/or student orientation.
- Ensures students complete clinical orientation requirements and attend clinical agency specific orientation prior to all clinical rotations.
- Serves as a liaison between clinical agency and CCC’s School of Nursing (CCCSON)to ensure orientation requirements are met.
- Maintains records of clinical placement and students' completion of clinical requirements and compliance with the program’s curriculum requirements.
- Conducts clinical site visits to assess the appropriateness of clinical activities and students’ clinical practice experiences.
- Assists the medical director in performing annual clinical site evaluations of clinical affiliates as part of the contract/ affiliation agreement renewal process.
- Collects data and prepares reports on clinical sites for inclusion in accreditation, grants, and related reports.
- Strictly adheres to HIPPA and FERPA regulations.
- Performs administrative duties as assigned in support of the Nursing Department.
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
- A State of Illinois registered nurse (RN)with an unencumbered license
- Two years of work experience in clinical nursing
- Must be able to work varied hours which may include evenings and/or weekends
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
