Internationalization Strategist/International Recruiter



Job Description

The Internationalization Strategist/International Recruiter will be responsible for supporting the university’s international recruiting operations, expanding on existing strategies and on consumer engagement using their strong skillset of marketing and data analysis for regular reporting and further strategizing. In addition, this position will plan engagement opportunities for customers in target markets that are mainly, but not exclusively, overseas; such opportunities include prospective undergraduate and graduate students, agents, and partner organizations.

The incumbent will join the UMSL Global Office which is the university’s nexus for international admissions, recruiting, student services, global engagement and impact, and currently serves several hundred international students, faculty, and staff.

UMSL Global is looking for a well-rounded personality with enthusiasm for service-oriented engagement with people and with the same level of passion for strategic planning and data-driven internationalization management. This role will provide the incumbent with excellent opportunities to connect professionally with our great UMSL faculty and staff community and strategically with partners around the globe.

Organizational Relationships

This position reports to the Director, Internationalization Strategies and International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS). The incumbent will work closely with the Internationalization Strategies/ISSS team as well as with everyone else on the UMSL Global team servicing our international enrollment efforts. The incumbent will also work collaboratively with all other UMSL recruiting entities across campus, including UMSL (domestic) Admissions and Recruiting, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business Administration, and others.

Responsibilities

• The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills (writing and speaking) and genuinely enjoy practicing both; will be able to demonstrate enthusiasm for work in the traditional and nontraditional enrollment management profession; and possess a willingness to work long and non-traditional hours when needed.
• The incumbent should be a creative and energetic personality who possesses excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and who enjoys working toward measurable goals.
• The incumbent will represent the University externally at numerous events and forums, such as international education fairs, college fairs, high school visits, international events, and internally at various on-campus events and regular meetings.
• The incumbent will coordinate regular online information sessions / webinars on various topics while targeting a variety of recruiting markets and while demonstrating high levels of flexibility necessary to accommodate and cover international time zones and individual agent requests.
• The Internationalization Strategist/Recruiter will support the UMSL Global office with relevant marketing and data analysis, forecasting and data presentations and will be open to take on additional duties when needed.
• The incumbent has the ability and the desire to be an essential part of the university’s strategic growth, both qualitatively (recruiting tools and strategies) and quantitatively (e.g. student numbers).
• Ideally, the incumbent is also experienced: working with international agents or other third-party partners and has lived or studied abroad.
• Ideally, the incumbent has: Experience with international university rankings and associated metrics; profound student markets experience and expertise in selected markets.
• Enrollment Analysis & Reporting
• Pro-actively support strategies that drive consumer engagement and deepen the relationship with customers throughout each phase of the enrollment cycle.
• Utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) technology, in concert with other relevant data, to maximize lead generation, manage prospects and track ROI.
• Use market insight and intelligence to analyze student demographic information and behavioral data as it relates to the enrollment cycle and outreach efforts to maximize impact.
• Apply deep understanding of needs and motivations of target populations to drive outreach efforts that grow our customer base and help us meet strategic objectives.
• Ability to legally serve as Designated School Official (DSO) (Permanent Resident or Citizen of the United States)

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university along with at least 3 years of experience in international recruitment, strategy and/or similar enrollment role in a university setting or a related field, such as staffing, talent recruiting (agent or company), international market forecasting or others.
• Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage micro and macro objectives and ability to execute toward multiple objectives concurrently.
• Ability to conduct interviews of and presentations to prospective students and their families, educational agents, and others in the recruitment network.
• Knowledge of CRM techniques to ensure relationship building with different audiences, especially the international student population.
• A positive attitude, can-do mentality, and high service standards.
• Enthusiasm for proactive international engagement with set goals.
• Superior interpersonal, listening and oral/written communications skills, including excellent presentation development and delivery skills.
• Strong marketing, sales and business development interests and ideally first-hand experience in these areas.
• Interest in first-hand experience with and strong ambition for systematic data management and analysis.
• Demonstrated track record of responsibility for and proven success in recruiting students and/or talent.
• Knowledge of international student markets and talent acquisition processes and methodology, search tools and technology.
• Ability to engage with a variety of constituents (prospective and current students, alumni, faculty, agents, institutional partners etc.) from many different cultural backgrounds.
• Creativity and resourcefulness.
• Ability to think outside the box to achieve established goals in accordance with timelines.
• Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Proficiency with MS Office and CRM tools, such as SLATE, TerraDotta and/or others
• Ability to interact confidently and positively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers face-to-face and online.

Standard Business Hours with Seasons of Extended and/or Unusual Working Hours

Salary

Hirig Range: $47,500 – $49,000 annually
Grade 10
University Title: SENIOR STUDENT SERVICE COORDINATOR

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree with experience in international recruitment, strategy and/or similar enrollment role in a university setting or a related field, such as staffing, talent recruiting (agent or company), international market forecasting, or others
