Appointment: Part-time, twelve-month renewable appointment, begins July 2022.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

The adjunct instructor of forensics will assist in coordination and administration of a competitive debate program and the planning and implementation of high school and college tournaments as well as any public/community debates; implement individual coaching plans including weekly meetings and work sessions; and fulfill duties as assigned by the Director of Forensics. The instructor is expected to be responsible for travel (including arrangements, coaching, judging, and team transportation) to tournaments and public debates. The position requires prompt fulfillment of budgetary matters including processing of receipts and invoices. When applicable, the debate coach will engage in recruiting. Successful candidates will be expected to work with students across formats and experience levels with an emphasis on educationally focused policy debate. The University of Puget Sound is invested in developing Pacific Northwest Debate, a community and educationally focused research based debate format on semester long topics.

Qualifications:

BA required.

The position requires experience with and knowledge of academic debate; ability to work in a collaborative team environment; excellent human relations and interpersonal communication skills; an ability to effectively assume responsibility for duties and to implement them in a timely fashion; an ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal contexts; and an ability to work professionally with students, faculty and staff, alumni, colleagues, and members of the community.
    Ability to respectfully work, communicate and provide leadership within a diverse campus community
