Overview
Reporting to the executive director of alumni engagement, the associate director of alumni engagement, school programming is responsible for creating engaging programming that supports the needs of the office of alumni engagement, the respective school represented, and the division of university advancement. These offerings should provide opportunities for alumni, parents, donors, and friends to engage and re-engage with Catholic University. Events should seek to highlight faculty, alumni, and students from their respective school. The associate director will seek input from school-based gift officers on potential programming ideas and speakers.

The associate director will also serve in support of university fundraising efforts by conducting discovery visits with potential alumni volunteers and donors to the university. These discovery visits will help aid the gift officers in schools and help cultivate new relationships and future donors.

Some travel is required with up to 35% of the time spent outside the office for events or visiting with alumni and friends of the university. Visits and events mostly consist of travel in the DMV area and East Coast with potential travel to the Midwest, West Coast, and South.

The associate director will also serve as staff liaison to designated offices/constituents; staff designated committees, and other duties as required.


Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement a robust list of in person programming (both locally in the DMV and in other parts of the country) that engages alumni in our various schools, with primary focus on Arts & Sciences, Business, Engineering, and Nursing. These program offerings should engage and re-engage current and prospective donors from the aforementioned schools.
  • Coordinate with school-based gift officers specifically in Arts & Sciences, Business, Engineering, and Nursing to host virtual webinars with alumni and faculty from the aforementioned schools. Host a monthly school-based webinar program that features different schools while attracting a wider audience to the event than just the school represented.
  • Conduct at least 20 visits with alumni that are unassigned, focusing on potential speakers and volunteers.
  • Work collaboratively with the alumni engagement team to find speakers for programming that supports the goals of the entire team.
  • Help coordinate communications between the schools and central alumni engagement, working to co-brand programming and share school-based programming with the larger alumni community and vice versa.
  • Recruit potential volunteers for school-based and/or industry-based alumni network boards. Once boards are launched, continue to recruit and manage volunteers.
  • Utilize Raiser's Edge (RE) database to document communications, visits, and other relevant information about donor and prospect moves management.
  • Effectively communicate results of contacts to appropriate Advancement and University staff.
  • Have input and responsibility for the planning of Cardinal Weekend activities and other university events as needed. Serve as the main point of contact for the schools and support their programming during Cardinal Weekend.
  • Attend necessary board meetings and other key functions of the alumni engagement team as needed.
  • Attend University events and functions, including but not limited to Cardinal Weekend and Commencement, representing the Division of University Advancement as needed.


Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with aleast five (5) years in higher education, non-profit or similar work setting working with volunteer management, alumni relations, event management, fundraising, or related responsibilities. Previous alumni relations work or fundraising is desirable. Experience in event management and volunteer management is desirable.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Google for Education, and ability to learn new software programs and functions including donor database and online community.

Possession of current and valid U.S. driver’s license appropriate to the type of university vehicle and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record (MVR) as stipulated in the Vehicle Guidelines and Procedures Manual administered through the office of Environmental Health and Safety. Annual clearance of MVR check through the Office of Environmental Health and Safety.

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to handle deadline pressure and flexibility to pivot when needed. Detail-oriented, ability to multitask, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to motivate volunteers and colleagues.
